Steele & Associates Hotel Brokers (“SAHB”) specialises in the sale and purchase of hotels and licensed premises in South Australia.  Other core business activities include:-

  • the appraisal of businesses and/or properties (generally involving, but not limited to, licensed premises);
  • the appraisal of market rentals for businesses and/or properties (generally involving, but not limited to, licensed premises); and
  • the preparation of stock valuations.

To effectively conduct these business activities SAHB may need to record your personal information obtained from you and from secondary sources (“Information”).

The secondary sources include but are not limited to your accountant and financiers, various departments of Federal, State and Local Government and other various suppliers of goods and services to you.

The Land and Business (Sale and Conveyancing) Act 1994 and Land Agents Act 1994 requires SAHB to record certain information about business and property related transactions in South Australia.

It is important that SAHB collect the Information.  You may refuse to give the Information to SAHB but this may result in SAHB being unable to provide its services to you.

SAHB will not collect Information unless the Information is necessary for one or more of its functions or activities and will collect Information only by lawful and fair means and not in an unreasonably intrusive way.

At any time you may contact the office of SAHB to gain access to or update the Information.  In some circumstances we may deny a request for access including where:-

  • granting access would unreasonably impact upon the privacy of others; or 
  • the request is, in the opinion of SAHB, frivolous or vexatious; or 
  • the law permits SAHB to do so.

On request by any person SAHB will outline in general terms the sort of Information it holds, for what purposes, how it collects, holds, uses and discloses that Information. In conducting the core activities SAHB may disclose the Information to a vendor, potential purchasers and a number of organisations related to the potential purchasers including but not limited to accountants, solicitors, financiers, valuers, insurance vendors and other advisors and agents.

SAHB will not disclose the Information for any purpose other than conducting the core business activities, or for related or reasonably expected secondary purposes, or for purposes where you have given your express or implied consent.

SAHB may use non-sensitive Information for marketing of its core business activities, however, you may advise SAHB to refrain from use of the Information in this manner in the future.

SAHB will take all reasonable steps to make sure that the Information it collects, uses or discloses is accurate, complete and up to date.

The Information collected may be stored both as hard copy and in computer files within the office of SAHB which is security monitored.  SAHB will take all reasonable steps to protect the Information it holds from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

SAHB may retain the Information indefinitely as a record of transactions relating to the core business activities but where appropriate it will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently deidentify the Information if it is no longer required.
